A Monet Day

This morning we took an early morning train ride to Giverny, where Monet's house and gardens are. We saw the water gardens that inspired his water lilies paintings. It was a beautiful day to walk around outside--sunnier and warmer than what we've experienced so far. When we returned to Paris this afternoon, we visited the Marmottan Museum, which houses an impressive collection of Monet's work. It was a neat experience to see the original paintings after visiting the gardens.

We enjoyed some (mostly window) shopping this afternoon, and now we're on our way to dinner. After that, we plan to take the Seine river cruise that we were too tired to take the first night we were here! This is our last night in Paris, and tomorrow night we'll be heading to Spain on a night train. We plan to continue this blog in Madrid and Seville. We love reading everyone's comments!

Wow...the pictures look so much like the paintings! The landscape of Monet's gardens definitely beats the scenic views of southern Indiana I'm enjoying on my vacation. I hope you two enjoy Spain...I'm so jealous!

Ola, Lesley and Roberto,

Vamos a Madrid! I know that it's hard to believe that a week has almost passed. Your France adventures sound wonderful, in large part because of your excellent planning.

We'll all be interested in hearing about that nighttime train ride. Hope that you have a non-smoking car!

Buen viaje!

OK...9 years of French and I'm afraid I cannot live up to the standards Lesley's family is setting in this blog! Regardless, I am loving your posts. You two are really doing it all. What a fantastic trip.

I'm especially looking forward to your Spain posts...what adventures must await you there.

Much love,
Jenny

How cool to see first Monet's inspirations, then his work. I'm glad you two are getting to experience so much in Paris! I'm really looking forward to reading about the next leg of your great journey. Love, Jenny

Lesley and Robert,

This has been really fun to follow! Thanks for sending out the link and allowing us to virtually follow your travels.

And what a wonderful way to spend your anniversary. I read and then remembered that yes it is your sixth anniversary and can hardly believe it has been so long!

Traveling mercies to you both.
Love,
Sarah
